The problem today...

One weight related problem of today is that many people rely on convenience stores and fast food to meet their daily needs. How much nutrition is there in a serving of curly fries, corn curls or twinkies? Can a gallon of pop replace the nutrients provided by 3C of milk?

Do people today know how to cook? Many do not! Even many nutrition professionals graduating from college lack basic cooking skills.

It is time to get down to the basics; basic foods prepared basic ways. By reducing your intake of processed, pre- packaged, or ready to eat convenience foods - you will naturally reduce your intake of fat, sodium (salt), and preservatives/additives known to be carcinogens.

Its warm and ready to eat!

If you want to eat right and are on a busy schedule, find a crockpot. You can load it up the night before (and refrigerate until the AM) or the morning of the day you plan to eat it for supper. Choose a lean roast of beef, pork, or even a chicken and throw into prepared (sprayed with the cooking release spray like Pam or your favorite cheap brand) crock pot. Add vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, onions, garlic or whatever else you like. Season it up with herbs and spices or use a dry instant soup mix (onion works well) and one can of cream of mushroom soup with one to two cans of water, or water mixed with wine, and put on high for 6-8 hours... voila! You have a tasty, healthy, and warm meal to eat at night.
Now, if you are concerned about your weight - look at your portion size. Fill half your plate with vegetables and limit your meat portion to the size of your palm.
